Timothy P. Snyder, CFRE
Timothy P. Snyder, CFRE, has held leadership positions in education and human development spanning a 48 year career. He has served in university student development, resource development (fundraising) and extensively in organizational development and change management. He entered the philanthropic profession as a campaign consultant.in 1984 with Ketchum, Inc. He has served in the United Way and in senior leadership positions with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the Parental Stress Center and Voices for America’s Children. He directed the Parental Stress Center for 13 years. He joined Brakeley Briscoe as a consultant in 2007 and became Senior Vice President in 2008, directing the Mid Atlantic region.
Recent clients that Tim has served include Des Moines County (Iowa) Historical Society, Middletown (PA) Free Library, Message Carriers of PA (Pittsburgh), Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Freedoms Foundation - Dallas Chapter and The SMU Meadows Shool of Arts Corporate Communications Department.
Tim grew up in Iowa where he developed his understanding of philanthropy and love for community leadership through experiences with the scouts, YMCA, civic arts and other community organizations. As a successful campaign consultant, Tim’s major engagements included the Mississippi Baptist Convention (Mississippi College, Blue Mountain College, William Carey College and the Baptist Children’s Home), University of Pittsburgh/University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and St. Luke’s Hospital (Newburg, NY).
Tim worked ten years at the University of Pittsburgh and played active roles in University administration.
For 13 years (1993-2006) Tim served as executive director of the Parental Stress Center, a family services organization serving Southwestern Pennsylvania. His special capabilities include resource development, organizational change and intentional partnership building.
Tim has demonstrated capacity in organizational assessment, strategic planning and action planning. His special skill is in working with organizations and their leaders at all levels to identify opportunities and the methods by which to achieve transformational goals.
A student of the Learning Organization model, Tim has taught and coached widely on both fundraising best practices and on programmatic development in nonprofit organizations.
Tim received a B.A. from Southern Methodist University and pursued graduate study in public affairs, business and international development education at the University of Pittsburgh. He received a MPA from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh. A 23-year member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Tim was first awarded the Certified Fund Raising Executive designation (CFRE) in 1989. Tim now resides in Media, Pennsylvania. He is married to Arlene Apfel Snyder, CFRE. They have three sons and seven grandchildren.
